Did You Know ?


The Watsonairs are celebrating 70 years next year and here are a few fun facts :

  1. The Watsonairs were founded by Kathleen Watson in 1956, hence the name 'Watsonairs'.

  2. They are the longest continuously operating choral group in Saskatchewan.

  3. Kathleen Watson was the voice teacher of renowned opera singer Jon Vickers.

  4. Watson was the choir director up until 1964.

  5. Gladys Strom led the choir from 1965 to 2005!

  6. May Janzen, choir member, became the choir director following Gladys Strom's retirement and led the choir until 2023!

  7. Amy Robinson, who had been the accompanist, took over the reigns as choir director two years ago and is starting her third year this year. For more information regarding the history of the Watsonairs first concert click here. Wish you a great week! The Watsonairs
